The TOCO Program at the Taylor Statten Camps

Nestled within the heart of the Taylor Statten Camps lies a special initiative tailored for the youngest of adventurers—the TOCO program (Try Out Camp) Designed for campers aged 6-8, the TOCO program serves as a vibrant introduction to the joys of camping, fostering teamwork, lasting friendships from a young age, resilience, and a deep connection with nature.

Exploring the TOCO Program

The TOCO program is a gateway for young campers to embark on a journey of outdoor exploration. Aimed at nurturing a love for the great outdoors, the program introduces these young campers to a variety of camp  activities such as swimming, tennis, horseback riding, paddle boarding, drama and so much more.

What a TOCO day looks like

Upon arrival at the camp, campers are warmly welcomed by their Counsellors and Section Directors. The first order of business is meeting their cabinmates and settling into their cabins, which will serve as their home for the upcoming days.

Once they have settled in, campers embark on a day filled with exciting activities after applying sunscreen and ensuring they are ready for the sun-soaked adventures ahead.

Dinner marks the beginning of the evening at 6 pm. Post-dinner, campers eagerly engage in their initial evening activity of the session before retiring to bed, ensuring a restful sleep to prepare for the action-packed day ahead!

Day 2 commences with an early bell wake-up. A hearty breakfast is served, providing campers with the fuel needed to tackle the morning’s activities. Post-breakfast, it’s back to the cabins to gear up for the day’s initial set of adventures.

After a morning brimming with fun, the bell signals a pause to recharge for the afternoon, leading campers to lunch which starts at 12:30 pm and concluding around 1:30 pm.

Following a brief rest time, the afternoon unfolds with activities recommencing at 2:30 pm. During rest-hour, campers can enjoy activities like chess, spike-ball, indulge in a good book, or simply share laughter with fellow camp pals.

As the day progresses into the afternoon, campers transition into different activities, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience distinct from the morning’s pursuits. The rhythm of the day reflects a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and camaraderie, creating an unforgettable camping experience for all involved.

While the TOCO program is an enticing prospect for young adventurers, it’s essential to meet specific eligibility criteria. Campers must fall within the age range of 6-8 years old to participate.
